Really, let's talk and talk sense, right into my head. I seem to need it, badly.
Today, I had a conversation with this person ( friend? ) for 2 hours. The other day, with another friend, it lasted 3.5 hours. Then, there was this other time , for 2.5 hours. All recent.
Not a big deal and has happened in the past too, I tell myself.
Deep down, doesn't feel okay.
Doesn't feel okay because I haven't found time for a long chittochat session with Ma. It's always the computer, books, cellphone, studies and if time left, television.
Doesn't feel okay because I haven't had a happy chatpata gappa session with my sister. It's been ages! I want to know what's up and how things are but I'm too busy, it seems!
Doesn't feel okay because Dad and I haven't cracked those rotten PJ's and it already feels like it has been the longest time ever!
Doesn't feel okay because I haven't had time to respond to calls from friends who anyday rate higher than the ones I've been having marathon bakbak sessions with! Friends, who are friends, in the right sense of the word (whatever that is..!) Friends, for whom I care much more and friends, who care much more for me.
Doesn't feel okay because I haven't really given direction to things happening in my life. They happen and I mould myself accordingly which is ewww!
In the whole act of being social , are we losing the essentials?
I mean, how important is it to reply to every message/ phone call/ wall post from our 'network' ? How important is it to keep ourselves updated with what's happening elsewhere when we have little clue of the 'what's new' in the life of near-and-dear ones ? The stupid status updates keep us aware of every tiny miny mood swing that an acquaintance has (even when we do not really wish to know) but we don't know if our parents or siblings had a good day at work or not.
Is it that we've become so lazy that keeping pace with relationships, where it is easier to access the other person through technological means, has gained an edge over those relationships wherein, we actually need to reach out to our people and spend time with them ?
Do we now shirk away from relationships that need to be worked upon unlike the ones where a text would set it all right?
This post could well be an over reaction but that I'll get to know later.
For now, as I look around me, I find that I need to stop taking the-ones-who-matter for granted. May be true for you, may not be true for you.
I wish to spend more time with family and the other few who matter because I know that they will love it (yes :) )
I wish to do so because I know that even a small time spent would make a huge difference to the relationships that I share and ofcourse, I wish to do so because I know that that, would make me happy.
Happy and content , like nothing else can ever make me feel.
It is these bonds, on which I thrive, after all.
:)

36 'cutting' aur bol! :D:
>:D<
:)
you've got really fair points... this is kind of obsession when it comes to social networking and we keep abandoning the ones who always were and will be with us.
I had same thoughts as you few months ago and really managed to restrict my presence on any social networking sites or in chats to only those who really matter.. rest of time when am not busy is given to family and friends.. feels better, trust me :)
We dont lose by staying away from networking.. because the only net we are tied to is family and close friends.. of course networking helps to keep in touch with lots of people but in the end, we are smart enough to set up right priorities in life :)
Am sure you know what to do :)
bhai!!! fone band aaj se..ghar jao..mummy-papa se baatein karo..n regularly blog karo. okie? chalo get goin! :P
Yeah, it's a good thought spending more time with near and dear ones...
true...tryin' 2 keep wth every new happenings in the lyf's of our "so-called" friends s really preventin' us 4m spendin' quality tym wth ppl who really matter...
it is always nice to spend time with the near and dear ones...nicely put in ur words...have a gr8 time :)..
urs..hemu..
i do that so often...but i guess when we r close to someone we dont need words to express...we dont need hours to show em we care...jus a look does it
hmmm........... simple u need a session in time management ;)
PS : I know a guy who can help.. ready to lighten your pocket...
(yahoo bakane ke bhi paise milanege )
:):):)...so true:)...
really touched by your words...coz they do ring a bell in my mind:(
but now that u have thought abt it...get going!!!
i agree with trina..
chal net band kar and ghar jaake gappe maar.. :)
waise on a serious note.. very well said.. food for thought
bohot hee sahi likha hai....n i just wonder how so many of us go thru the same feelings...same phases...same situations... confusions..realizations...at certain points of life...
hmmm.. you certainly haven't been spending time at blogger.. what have you been doing???? :O
anyway, makes a lot of sense. but networking has its pros too.. but then yes i admit, a lot of times i've resorted to texting just so that i don't have to deal with ppl on the phone, and not cuz i want to avoid them, but just to avoid talking,.. for some weird reason.. ok now i get the feeling that's beside the point :P
but yeah.. ppl are getting lesser and lesser time to socialize personally.. and social networking sites are thriving.. funny!
I second Trinna..Yaar phone band kar aur beth mummy, papa ke saath kuch waqt...Apni priorities change kar le ..sab thik ho jaega...
I love the gossip sessions with my sister...but aaj kal kam ho gaya hai work pressure ki wajah se....I hate it soemtimes...coz I find peace in her words.
i want to say so many things after reading this bt cant over here..
bt yes u have hit the nail with the hammer..
we keep ignoring ppl who r more imp to us,who care for us,those who r ready to do anything jst for tht little time spent with us..bt we realise it jab bahut der ho jaati hain..
rest i will keep myself reserved over here;-)
bt will definetely sometime write abt this..
Doesnt make sense that you wrote a long post and actually did not spend time with the loved ones ;)
Feel the same way sometimes.. have got complains from my sister regularly for not calling her.
kuch kuch mein bohot kuch
kya bhaiya sahi haina
Nice post there :) We have to spend more time with our loved ones and those people who actually care for us instead of wasting time and energy on people who dont!
:-)
We make our choices and I'm glad you are atleast thinking about changing things, than just going with the flow.
Bhai, tujhe pata hai nah k tu best hai? Yellow is working :-)
It's true bhai ...but the real answer to that is to form a balance ....Balance between giving the right amount of time to both...Parents are Parents ...they are our actual support system ...We can't ignore them and I am glad you have realised that :)
And you talk for that many hours Bhai ??? Teri aur meri nahin jamne waali phir :D
Hmm hmmm...
Sometimes, we just tend to avoid people who matter the most. But they're the ones who'd eventually stand by us all the time, against all odds.
really a touching one from bhai this time...:) no doubt tht we often forget to value d ones who matter d most to us....:(
will spend more time wid loved ones..
thanks:)and
thumbs up!!!!!
>:D<
Go bhai....have some chai and gupshup with the ones who really mean to you....and then write a happy post....:D
spoken like a true cancerian. hehehe :)
yenjoy with family...and keep updating !! :D
bhai bole tu .. chai ke ingredients khatam hogaye kya ...
or
typing-vrat ( like maun-vrat) liya hein .. jo aap ekdum gayab hoon ;)
yes the near and dear ones need to be made to feel good... and time management is the best option i guess... because the 'acquaintances' that u mentioned grow as much a part of our lives as our family, and somewhere we do care for them too... it's just that how we manage the different relationships...
>:D< You bad girl! You know what you've made me cry. Trsut me, once you move off from home, life sucks! I have known it all. :) Chal ab party with Mom Dad and your sis too. Luw yaaa
long time bhai..kahan chale gaye...
