that's how the mood swings! :)

Past few days have been.. uhhh-well-whatever :/
Weird exam(s), pagal-gadhe-ullu friends, weather, bomb blasts... waaaaaaaaaaaa :((
Shit happens!

But but but.. Happy jumpy chirpy stuff is always around.. all we need to do is.. look ! 8-)

So I was on YahooMessenger (simultaneously enjoying a dinner of bhelpuri and chai :D ) when a friend sent an IM commenting on my pic there.

Friend : Bada khilkhila rahi hai pic mein.. kya baat hai?? :)
Me : Sochte raho, shickret hai :D

and that's how the chat began, one that lasted 3 long happy-hours! :)

Loadsa random gappe like -

Friend ( on being asked if he's taking CAT this year) : Yeah, I believe in charity, warna IIM band ho jayenge :D

Me : Lol , another point is that if we appear, we'll help others get better percentiles :D

Friend
: Hmm.. Kar bhala toh ho bhala .. Usi bhale ki wait kar raha hunmain

Me
: ufff, I read hunmain = hanuman .. ROTFL!

Friend
: Hanumanji kaye ko wait karne lage yaar?? :D :D

I hope you get the idea ! :D
Totally random makes-no-sense crap. Just what you need when you're feeling blue.
:)

Suddenly, his keyboard stops functioning :-S
All he keeps writing for a while is Emoticons and they don't make much conversation, you know.

I'm about to say byebye, when the vella software engineer (with a never-say-die-attitude) finds his way out, smart-ly!
We are a smart specie , nay?

Doodling saves the day and we use crayons to communicate on YM!

I propose a drawing competition, I mean, we're working with crayons anyway!

The friend starts and makes the usual hut-mountains-river-trees. Colors were sad though, the hut was purple! :-S
Can't put the pic here, for he erased it right after I gave my review.

Me : So much for imagination.. hunh!

******

Then was my turn. Bhai's turn you see. After failing miserably twice and using two extra turns for the competition.. lol.. I came up with this :

in the pic :
Dost, Happy Eating :) - a plate of momos and a cup of chai (steaming hot!)

******

Next, he wanted to draw the 'appu' :D

******

I then chose to reveal an old schoolmate and drew him :

It's a habit. Most of the people I don't like, they have to have a nose of a pig.. always! :D

******
Random practicing , I had got the hang of it and was getting better with time! :)
I love the messages that contain a simple - :) . They say so much.

was duly complimented! :)

******
So , at the end of it all :

:)

We don't have to worry about piggy-keyboards anymore, yayyyy!
For the ones who use YM, make sure you try this! :)
Brings out the kid in you and well, you realise how bad you are at drawing! :/ lol.. :D :D

While we're on YM , ever tried these icons?
\:D/
>:D<

;))

;;)

They happen to be my most-favourite-in-the-whole-wide-world icons! :) If you happen to try them , lemme know! In all this, I didn't even realise when my mood went from blue to yellow [ umm.. it happens to be my happy color :) ]

Big things aren't what you need to be totally-giggly-happy, nonsense serves just fine!
:D

A big thank you to YM, the friend and dad ( for the internet connection! )
>:D<

Happy days to everyone reading this! :)

The Haircut Story.

[ The Dhoni reference is a little outdated ]

In the list of haircuts that have made it big (ha ha) , Dhoni (Indian cricket captain) reigns on the top.
Allright. So he had his hair cropped.
.

.
.
Now, there'll people who'll go.. "And??.. :O "

And then :-) , there'll be people ( mostly) in whose mind would flash the Dhoni avtaar , and they'll recall how it was being said that he'd got it done for some bollywood debutante (!!) and that John was present in the salon while he was getting this new cut done by Ms.Maya ...and blahblah... phew!!

[All thanks to the print media or the zillion news channels that made the topic no less than national news! - Fans were waiting while the makeover (whatever) was being carried on and what not! crap]

Anyway , neither am I interested in the man or his hairdo. Nor that of Bipasha's for that matter (bob ala posh and all that)

So, why am I writing this.. right?
Well, as this is about me wanting a new hairdo!! lol..

I remember, I was listening to some arbit FM station ( they don't even deserve a special mention.. unless maybe, MEOW..) and the RJ was yes, talking about the same - celebs and haircuts!
What she said struck me..

She had read it somewhere, a psychological research or the like, and the conclusions of which were, that people only go for a haircut in 3 conditions :
(now comes the interesting part..)
*rolll the drumm!*
  1. When they are sick , bored and down in life.. consider themselves almost a total failure and need a makeover - a desperate one at that , to make them see life in a different light altogether, and thus the solution - a haircut!!
  2. When people have just had a break-up , are in the single and just-about-ready to mingle stage. They want to project a new identity and image and yes, nothing better than a haircut for them as well!!
  3. When people develop a liking for a person ( she put it as - "love".. ugghh.. too strong ), have this someone special in their lives that they want to impress and they too take the haircut route!

hunh..as if it's like a sasta tikau raasta to " a new day has come..!" :D

Anyway, that left me feeling.. ('?').. seriously.. what??

I don't even qualify for a single option!.. and where does that leave me?? no-where!
Unless I consider myself a failure, or have had a break-up or worse , have this *special* one in my life.. I can't hope to get a different haircut done
??

And then, the devil in me.. I recall all the faces who've had new hairdo's done in the recent past.. *chuckle chuckle* - I am down to just 3 options in figuring out why they got it done.. ahan!! :D

The next time I see a "different" you in terms of hairstyle, well.. hihihahaa ;D ;D

Enough stupidity for today.. I am still lost when it comes to my hair(cut/style) story.. to get or not to get a haircut, and if yes, then what style (whatever I get it done like, it is almost always disaster, eventually!!) , but still..what do I do now??..Hell!

When I got my last haircut, I was GLAD. That was the first time in life I had a so-happy-that-I was-jumping haircut!
It was different and something that I liked. More so, for I didn't expect it to go well. A friend I can trust enough, had suggested the place and I decided to check it out. Had nothing to lose, except what was on my head :/ , so I thought, o-k-a-y.

So when after the haircut, I came back home all jumpy and chirpy, mom had some words of wisdom waiting for me, as always.

Me : Maaaa! Don't you think it's mast? *swish , flick , turn, toss * Yeaayyy! I think the man's done an awesome job! Batao yaar.. goooood hai na??

Mom : Hmm.. Achcha hai. Dekh lo tum, kaam toh eventually banda* hi aaya na.. !

*Banda/ladka = one of the male specie.. hunh..

Me :
:/
:-S
*rollin eyes*

Mom : *The winning grin n all that*

Me : (back to) .. *swish, flick, turn, toss*

:D :D

Please please pray, that my pending haircut goes.. well and that I can still swish , flick, turn and toss post it.

(A)Tagged!

Express tagged me with the Unspectacular Quirks tag a few days back.. and here I am! :)

Rules ( *rollin eyes* Tag mein rules, baaki blog mein bakwaas! lol..)

  1. Link the person who tagged you.
  2. Mention the rules on your blog.
  3. Tell 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
  4. Tag 6 following bloggers by linking them.
  5. Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger's blogs, letting them know that they have been tagged.
Baaki sab kuch 6, rules 5.. ? Bahut naa-insaafi hai re !
:D :P ;o)

Spectacular or Unspectacular , here goes my six pointer on quirks!

#1.
I sleep with my cellphone right beside/under my pillow or on the side table or in my palm. It just has to be with me. No vibrator mode doesn't disturb my sleep, so that's taken care of. I keep checking it for messages/missed calls all the time and it just feels so nice to see that a friend messaged me in the middle of the night for no big reason :)
It matters.

#2
I read the newspaper and magazines back to front. Don't know how it started or why it is like that, but that is how it is. Doesn't apply to novels though!

#3
I don't like things odd. (Sometimes I wish I wasn't born on an odd date, anywayyy)
If we're having an orange, I'll take either 2,4 or 6 slices. Same goes for cucumber slices, number of teaspoons of sugar, number of sips, number of times I tear a page, number of steps .. and you get the picture.
Infact, before I'm leaving for an exam, Ma gives me dahi - mishri
(don't need to explain that, do I?) The mishri pieces are either 2 or 4.
Also, when I'm off for my day and Ma/Pa come for the 'bye bye' in the balcony, I turn back either twice or four times. And they know it. So it isn't like after the third wave, when I'll turn for the last one, no one would be there. They're always there. For they know :)
Ohhh.. how I love them! :)

#4
Talking of steps, now, when I'm walking, I have to match my left with the person's left (the person walking beside me) and my right with the person's right. It doesn't matter if it's a stranger or a friend, I just skip a step and start all over again to co - ordinate our left-right-left. It's so much better and orderly and un-messy.

#5
I'm super - possessive of my novels. I don't like lending them to people. Primarily because I fear they won't come back to me and if they do, they'll have maggi / chai stains on them and I do not even like the thought of it. I cover all my novels and on them write the names with a nice marker and clear alphabets.
If I'm reading one that's from the library or borrowed from a friend, I cover that too with the sunday-edition newspaper (the paper's of better quality) and then when I return it back, I remove the cover. Books, no matter what, ought to be respected!

#6
After my clothes have been washed and they're done with their time in the sun, before they enter my rack/closet they have to be seedha. Just the way I'd put them on. Not inside out. Do not tell me that it can be done later too when they're being ironed. Whenever Ma does that, I ask her to leave my pile and fold all my clothes myself. Seedha.
Not ulta.

See, life can be all topsy - turvy, but my clothes I can dictate, right?!
:D

I'm done. I can't believe I'm done. For I still have more to write.
Too quirky, eh?

I tag (in reverse - alphabetical order) :
Urv
Trinaa
Nikita
My Inner World
Mayz
Joiedevivre

Wanted to tag a few others but the rules don't allow me to. So people who wish to do it, go ahead and once you're done, lemme know! If you could go through my crap, I promise to read yours too! :D

'Shift'ing pain

Some months back, it was that time of the year again.

The time when Ma proposes to learn to use the computer and the internet.

I call it the Role-Reversal carnival.
It's a subtle harbinger of the fun ( mostly) times ahead. Yes, it does gets shrieky and high pitched once in a while, but over time, I learn to behave and teach properly.

See, my deal is, there's a finite number of times I can go ahead and repeat the functions and give directions. Right?

Well, it isn't. I've learnt that finite doesn't exist when you're teaching someone something, that, for them, is as difficult as rotational dynamics was once, for you. You go through the book, learn the formulae, practice solved questions, try unsolved ones, but it's all useless next time when you pick up the book and it's all erased, like totally, and you have start afresh.
(Boy oh boy, the mere mention of that deaded subject can still bring tears to my eyes)

It so happened that I'd teach Ma her way around the computer and she'd learn to start it, go to MyDocuments, browse pictures, play Solitaire (!!) and shut it down. But something would come up that would disturb the daily practice and she'd be back to square one.
I understand that now, earlier I didn't and what followed was lectures on how I've tried so many times to make her understand this and that and crap..
It was during one of the lessons where she was stuck somewhere and asked me what to do next.

Me - Abhi bataya toh tha na, kinni baar yaar?? Yaad to karo aap.

Ma - Beta, nai aa raha na yaad.. soch rahi hun phir bhi.. bta de.. tu toh achcha bachcha hai..

Me - Ma, hadh ni ho gayi? Baar baar repeat karti rahun , aap toh try hi nai kar rahi ho? Kab tak phir se phir se bataun??

What she said next was one tight slap without any physical contact

Ma - Beta, tum log bhi bachpan mein pagal pane ke sawaal karte rehte thei baar baar.. hum logon ne kabhi bola ke kitni baar jawaab dein? Phir? Bata diya karo.. bhool jaatei hain..

That was an eye-opener big-mouth-closer for sure!

Since then, I try to be at my helpful best and I'm glad to say that she's been doing pretty well.. (well, she's almost there)

Her course content is something like this :

  • CLICKS : double, single, left and right
  • SCROLLING : The scroll button takes care of it ( thank God! )
  • IDENTIFYING PAGE ELEMENTS : sign in, log out, cancel, ok, shut down, turn off, minimize, maximize, restore, close.
  • APPLICATION PROGRAMS : She doesn't really need to learn to work on them, all she needs is to learn how to open various files and documents.
  • KEYBOARD ( saved the worst for the last ) : Just cannot say enough. This device has given me some of the most emotionally diverse moments of my Role-Reversal carnival. It has done everything from making me bang my head on the closest object to making me laugh hysterically, all in a short span of time.

Dad's favourite key happens to be ESCAPE. Kuch bhi hua, escape dabado. Next in line is, CTRL+ALT+DEL. He's good enough with computers but when he's using my system he prefers to be extra careful to avoid the tamasha I create later if something, anything goes wrong. So, you have dad, pressing away escape to glory whenever any not-so-normal dialog box appears on screen.

Mom's favourite key would be Shift. She's B-A-D at typing. What can you expect with someone who's taken a pledge to use only her single hand to type? :/ It's such a treat to watch her type. The keyboard is a maze for her in which she gets lost all the time!

So this other day, Ma had come to know of the 'underscore' and I'd told her how to put that on screen. That very day, I had taught her a lot of other things reagrding her mailbox. Obviously, she was overwhelmed and very very confused.

Don't know how it happened, she mistyped something and forgot that the backscape existed , or maybe something else. All I remember is, she was stuck. Asked me to help her, but I'm me. I told her, if she was to learn, she has to figure it out herself this time. She kept pondering over her maze, she'd approach a key, look at me to see if my face gave any hint and then move on to the next. Thinking of it now, that sure was funny! :) Out of nowhere, when nothing was happening, she goes " Shift dabadun? "

And I burst out laughing! To her, it was the final resort. Shift was her saviour. Her wonder key. It was such an innocent question that I couldn't help but do her entire work that day!

It was while working that I thought how wonderful it'd be if I could press the Shift key and do away with the problems in life.

When nothing seems right, there're paths ahead but I don't know which one to take, there aren't many people to offer support and it's me on my own, when it's all hazy and when I'm down, days when I'm hardest hit..

batao.. Shift dabadun??

Ahem...the animal inside you.

A husband and wife were in the midst of a violent quarrel, and the husband was losing his temper.

"Be careful" , he said to his wife. "You will bring out the animal in me."

His wife shouted back, "So what? Who is afraid of a mouse??"

Attention Blood Banks!!

I am generally, a very healthy - happy person. I hope all of you know what healthy means.. right?
I'm healthy ( psssst : pleasantly plump , mummy papa ka ladla bachcha etc.. ) :D
So, when the last time I went to donate blood and I was told that I couldn't, for the haemoglobin levels weren't up to expectations, the scene went something like this :

Nurse : Aap nai de sakte blood, sorry. Haemoglobin low.
Me (thought bubble) : Has she gone bonkers?
Me (speech bubble) : Kya bol re ho yaar? Look at me, mera haemoglobin low? Check again.
Nurse : Fine, you go talk to the doctor.

Doctor (Looking into my eyes.. lol.. , then checking my nails) : Beta, you can't.
Me : Noo, check again!
Doctor : Beta, eat healthy and maybe next time.. Go.
Me : #&!*%&^*#
I had all right to be irritated, it was my 'blood donation day anniversary' - 2nd !! :(

Post that too, I was not well so my doctor asked me to get some tests done and a blood test was on the list.
So, I'd gone for one and came back feeling a little dizzy and you know, not normal. Something was not okay.
Didn't really want to do anything, like, anyyyyyything. Internet came to the rescue and in an attempt to kill boredom and change my mood, I logged in to YouTube.

I wasn't prepared for what followed! Check for yourself

Presenting, Shekhar Ravjiani, an adorable man and a cute singer, and a hot guy and.... aaaaahhaa! :) :D

This video has moments from the last season of SaReGaMaPa , where he was one of the judges. The best of the lot ( As in, no comparison for him there, what with Himesh and Ismail being the other guys! :S )

Blood came rushing back to my veins! I felt refreshed, energetic, healthy and happy again! :) All I could think of doing was stare dreamy-eyed at the monitor and smile and wishhhh..

Me : Why don't they make guys like that anymore?

Mom : ( who happens to be a Shekhar fan too!, replied very very seriously ) : Pata nai bete..

:D :D I mean, atleast she understands.

The song's from OmShantiOm , picturised on Deepika, one actress who I rubbished off without even seeing a single act of hers. She's like, way too tall, manly and just not likeable. And then there's the fact that guys around me kinda like her which makes it impossible for me to appreciate any damn thing about her! :D But the song totally suits this man and how!

Kitna kuch kehna hai phir bhi hai dil mein sawaal kahiiiin..

( Three cheers for KK , the singer, as well! )

Shekhar's child-like laughter ( 1.49 - 1.51 ) or the stunner that hits your eye in that awesome black t-shirt ( 3.28 - 3.37 ) can do it's magic and swing the most depressing moods the other way! With blood back in veins, I had all reason to feel rejuvenated!

That's when the thought struck my social-work brain! Why not use this at all blood donation camps and get the bottles rolling?! ;)

Something like " Girl about to faint? Shekhar ka video lagao! " , "Blood nikal nahi raha araam se? Shekhar ka video lagao! ".. lol.. It is definitely going to work for female donors! Isn't it?

To the ones who do not share my sentiments about Shekhar, DO NOT tell me that. And we might just still be friends :D

Bahut Kuch Hota Hai!

This is an old post, one I'd written sometime in February, after Dad's birthday. Random gappe is what it is all about, so thought it'd fit in here :D
------------------------------------------------------------------
Some days back, my favourite question to anyone I met in college was : oye, tere paas abhi change kitna hai? meko dede...

Friends were getting sick of this but my side of the story was/is : See, I pay 7Rs for my bus ride when I'm supposed to pay 10Rs ( Bhai ka staff, you see ) Now if I give the conductor 10Rs, more often that not, he won't return those 3 precious Rs, and I'd feel cheated!

*cheap? I know, I know*

I had used all the change that was available at home, so it was down to well, begging!
and no, singing in the bus /train(metro)/ temple was not an option. If you were going to suggest that, you probably aren't my friend, or some of the lucky ones who haven't heard me sing! :/

Anyway, I finally told my friends :
Me : Yaar, I'll ask dad to get me 5000rs ka change. 2 - 2 ke coins..
They smirked (actually!!) - yah, right..
Me : abbe, sachchi.. milte hain aise.. from the banks.. you don't know??

A few days later , a friend ( on being begged for chillar yet again )

Friend: kya hua? tere papa laaye ni tere liye wo 5000 ke coins?
Me (Speech bubble) : he's told uncle, I'l get them soon..
Me (Thought bubble) : How mean! Isko lag ra hai I was fekoing! I'm going to throw that bag of coins on your face as and when I get it! :S

I was hit where it hurt the most, but I wasn't going to give up, Dad won't let me down.. :)
*bhai ki winning grin*

Check for yourself..

Current picture : Bloating, yes.. up, up and away :D :D
------------------------------------------------------------------

A friend was over for chai and gappe, when dad gave me the potli of which I am the proud owner now :)
When both of us saw it.. and the 2500 coins..! well..

Friend (eyes wide open, gaping) : yaar, sahi hai.. tumhaare paas itne saare paise.. inko bed pe bichcha do and inpe so jaao.. sahi na? woww..

Me (bloating) : arrei.. hum hum hain! ;) achcha sun, let's count them!

Friend (super excited) :haan chal... jisne jitne gine, utne uske!.. .

Me :No ji!

Mom and Dad : tum log kabhi bade hoge?

We weren't listening, for the 20 somethings were on a mission : busy counting already counted chillar!

For those who're interested - Game went on till 800 coins were on the roll.. bhai finished her half first!

Friend : tu galat gin rahi hai.. tu merese jaldi kaise count kar sakti hai??

Me ( thought bubble) - Another victory for the ladkilog! Male ego crushed yet again! And I have the coins to celebrate with.. yeayyyy! \:D/

Current picture : Bloating, yes.. up, up and away :D :D

------------------------------------------------------------------

I had a bhai-ka-special-surprise ready for Dad on his birthday (details later!) That included 4 balloons, heart shaped.. yes.. yellow, green, pinkkk and orange

I was responsible for the pinkkk one, rest were brought alive by a friend. Now, my pinkk balloon was not the fattest/biggest/largest/healthiest... but I had a soft corner for it, for obvious or maybe not-so-obvious reasons. Day went well, had fun blahblah..

It has been some days and the scene is :

:D :D To say that I am happy would be an understatement! I am bloating yet again.. and the male ego.. muahahahaa :D :D

Current picture : Bloating, yes.. up, up and away :D :D

------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday was spent shopping. Not vella.. but object oriented shopping!!

A Bata store had it's inaugration and I happened to be their second customer (I get discounts on Bata products.. so visits to Bata have increased! *cheap*) so they treated me and a friend ..

kaaju barfi, toffee and glittery red rose mila humko! Yeayyyyy! \:D/

Later that evening, I get to see this.. in my drawing room :

If you look closely, the rose has been strategically placed right in front of my framed pic.. amidst the other clutter!! By someone I love THE most .. Ma!

Current picture : up .. up... and away.. :'(

Under your umbrella? Nay

I knew the day would come, but didn't anticipate it this soon. It has been raining on and off and on again for ages now. Seems like it, doesn't it?
Wait, don't get me wrong. I totally love the rains. As opposed to this friend's views that he puts forward everytime, mind it, everytime we talk about the rainy weather.

Me : Oyeeee , it's raining!! :) Mast hai na.. chai, pakode/momos, novels! Yeaaay! :D :D
Friend : Yaaaaaaaaar, it's raining! :'( I hate it.. All keechad on the roads, everything messy :S

I mean.. Give Bhagwaanji a break! When it's hot, people crib. When it's not, people crib. One tough job to please one and all !

So today, just when I stepped out of my house, it started pouring. Not the tap-tap baarish, but the kinds that facilitates the chchap - chchap :D
My first instinct was to go all out and enjoy while it lasts but couldn't afford to go to the place I had to, in a wet tee and jeans and there was no way I could be late either. So well, I had to opt for it. I was stuck.

*sound of utensils crashing, imagine K-soaps*

I asked Ma for an Umbrella.

Kya din aa gaye hain :( I thought. There, Ma was happy thinking that finally she's managed to drill some sense in me that made me take the umbrella route. Ah, well, whatever :/

It so happens, that I hate using an umbrella. Like, totally. Oh, and I have my reasons. Solid, well-pondered-over reasons.

  • I am an umbrella - handicapped person. Can't recall how long it has been, but it seems forever. I do not know how to manage it only. As in, when it's raining vertical it is still somehwat okay. The angled rains are impossible to deal with when you're carrying an umbrella. ( Howcome the tan theta questions on rain-falling-at-an-angle never bothered me but their practical application makes me cry?? ) For the records, it was the tedhi baarish today :S
  • I cannot walk while I am holding an umbrella. Can you?? Back when I was in class3, there used to be these colorful umbrellas that u could wear on your head ( !! ) so no problem in walking, whatsoever. The headaches that they might incur, well, you can't get everything, right? I was never fortunate enough to get hold of one of these ( yeah, abusive rotten childhood etc :D )
  • I don't have any birght happy umbrellas. They're brown and black and depressing :/ I want yellow, printed, pattern-ed ones!
  • Umbrellas come in the way of you and the rains. Like, Bhagwaanji is reaching out to you yaar. How can you not go out and get geela geela ?? :D

So, you Rihanna, can croon as much as you want and extend offers to no one in particular to come ' under your umbrella ', it'll all be wasted.

Simply because, mera dil, [chchaata] nai chaahta hai :D

Tedha hai, par mera hai

:D :D

seconds later

('?')

and I'm thinking - new blog, promising gupshup and chai, badhiya hai.. but what do I write? :/
Err.. umm.. Gappe?
:D Easy! :)

No gyaan, no creative-writing contest, no fetch-the-dictionary words ( I don't think in big words and this is all what I think, right? ), no name calling :P , no crying and well, I can try not to crib. I said try ;D

A word of caution though, I hate titles and here, they're going to be crappy, always. This one's inspired from the new Kurkure Ad that I found funny the first time I saw it.
To think of it, it does fit. Fits right in.

In life, your people and your possessions are yours, however crooked and cracked they might be.
And so is, my blog :)

Tedha hai, par mera hai
:D
